Karen and David met in the 1990's while working for a non-profit providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. While nearly 30 years have passed, the two continue to be passionate regarding developing highly effective and creative workforces for nonprofits, government agencies, and private companies. After a short time of working together, the two married and continued to share similar interests both at work and in their personal lives. Professionally, they both continue to grow as David became a clinical social worker and licensed psychologist providing services for marginalized and underserved populations. His passion for working with individuals to provide the highest quality service extended to recognizing the need for professional development within the government and nonprofit world. He was well recognized as providing high quality and creative clinical services throughout the state.
At the same time, Karen continued as a top-notch HR professional helping organizations restructure, providing consultation and leadership, and developing career ladders for newer professionals to stabilize and grow workforces. While David and Karen’s careers took different directions for many years, they continued to share many similar passions such as leadership development, workplace culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion, disability issues, and training and development for employees.
For years, David requested that the two work together and Karen said “Absolutely not.” Several years ago, she finally said “Yes!” As a result, the two have developed a consulting firm that is able to help from various perspectives to provide high quality, creative, and innovative support for organizations, individuals, and systems.
Their consulting continues to focus on companies and the two are committed to helping organizations with less resources.
Karen is passionate around issues of leadership development, creating teams of individuals who are highly constructive, and issues regarding ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act), diversity in the workforce, equity and opportunity for all, and building career paths for those new to the workforce. She has experience in all aspects of HR including benefits, policy development, pay equity, leadership development, recruiting, performance management, having difficult conversations, and intra-departmental communication. Although she has worked in most aspects of HR throughout her career her greatest asset is her ability to connect with others, develop new professionals, and effectively teach managers how to lead teams. Her leadership skills are among the best and she is able to share those skills as a consultant. Her balance between compassion and analytical thinking makes her the ideal HR professional and consultant.
David has learned much from Karen’s leadership skills over the years (at home and work), he also has vast experience and knowledge as a clinician leading to a great understanding of how individuals can work together to build something larger. He is well-versed in research and topics of organizational development, assessing and implementing organizational change, and helping individuals progress in their careers. While he continues to be passionate about the field of clinical psychology, he recognizes that working with organizations, he is able to use this knowledge base to promote well-being within the workforce, improve effectiveness and efficiency for organizations, while also producing a happy and healthy workforce.
David and Karen have been married for over 25 years and continue to not only share professional interests but enjoy traveling, spending time with their daughter, and being outdoors.
